Investment & Process
Every family is unique, and therefore no two photo shoots will ever be the same. Photo shoots with me are an experience-there's laughter, silliness, connection, and fun. I want the memories of our session to be as beautiful as the images. I offer one newborn package, and three family package options. To see inclusions and pricing info refer to the below options.

Newborn sessions
These sessions include a mixture of relaxed family images, and naturally posed newborn portraits. They take place in the cosy comfort of your home and allow plenty of time to work at baby's pace. I bring everything I need.

Event pricing (excludes weddings) $395 first hour, $195 per hour thereafter.
FAQ
Why hire Gemma?
I'm friendly and fun to work with, and tend to be pretty good at making people laugh and feel relaxed. My style of photography is warm and candid, and gives you a great mix of some gently posed images along with that documentary feel as well. I have great attention to detail, I value every single customer highly, and I offer support every step of the way.
Do you travel?
Whilst most of my work is based in Christchurch, Selwyn, and the Canterbury region, I am happy to travel almost anywhere for an additional fee. I try to get to Auckland for photo shoots a couple of times a year, so keep an eye on my socials for this if you're Auckland based. Alternatively, Christchurch is a beautiful place to come visit!
How long does it take to get our photos delivered?
I always work hard to have your images ready as soon as possible, but expect 2-4 weeks turn around time.
What do we wear?
Something you love and feel comfortable in! When you book with me you also get my beautiful guidebook with tips on preparing for your photo shoot, which includes outfit guidance and ideas. I also have a small client wardrobe for Mama's to borrow from if needed!
Where and when do we do the photos?
I recommend booking in at least a few weeks in advance, as dates tend to fill up quickly (especially weekends!) Outdoor photoshoots usually take place during the first hour after sunrise, or the last two hours before sunset. This gives you the best chance of getting those beautiful golden images. Indoor shoots are normally done around 10am. Location wise-you might have a favourite place such as a beach or park, otherwise I have a list of beautiful places I can suggest!
I'm really awkward, can you help me pose?
Absolutely, I gotchu! I give directions throughout our shoot, such as where to put your hands and how to stand that looks natural. I also love capturing those in between moments!
Do you do mini sessions?
Yes, I periodically run these on a first in, first served basis. These aren't suitable for newborns or extended family, but are perfect for capturing milestones between full family sessions-especially with young children who change so much every few months! If you want flexibility around dates, time, and location then a full session is definitely needed. Additionally, if your child is on the shy side a mini session probably doesn't allow enough time for them to get comfortable with me.
How do we get our images?
When they're ready, you will receive an email with a link to your beautiful online album. From here you choose your images and these are finalised for you. Final images can be downloaded, shared, and printed by you, and I also offer stunning professional and affordable print options, easily ordered via your gallery.
What if it's raining or we are sick?
Most sessions can be postponed for better weather, and of course if someone is unwell we will rebook!
What do we bring?
A towel, a change of clothes (or PJs), snacks for the kids, and maybe a special item if you want to. All of this is covered in my e-guidebook when you book.
Do you offer packages or discounts for multiple sessions?
Yes! Returning clients get a lovely discount off subsequent full photo shoots. (not applicable to mini sessions bookings)
How does the process work?
1. Send me an email
Send me an email or use the contact form to get in touch. From here we can book a date and discuss locations, and I send out my e-guidebook on preparing. Start organising outfits and get excited!
2. On the day
We meet at the chosen location. We will spend some time on posed images, various family combinations, and lots of time just hanging out having fun while I capture it.
3. Photo delivery
Around 2 weeks after our shoot you will receive an email with access to your beautiful digital proof photo album, all ready for choosing favourites. From here you can also buy additional images, and order prints. Your final downloads are ready within 2 weeks from choosing.
4. Leave a review
